DAY 5 ? Monday/Tuesday ? Yangtze Cruise: San Dou Ping/Xiling Gorge

Stop at San Dou Ping to see the amazing progress construction at the Three Gorges Dam, the largest hydroelectric project in the world. Sail through the dramatic Three Gorges ship lock before continuing through Xiling Gorge, longest of the famed Three Gorges.

DAY 6 ? Tuesday/Wednesday ? Yangtze Cruise: Wu Gorge/Small Gorges Excursion/Qutang Gorge

This morning, marvel at Wu Gorge’s deep zigzagging valley. At Wushan, a cruiser takes you for an excursion up the Daning River’s renowned Small Gorges–Dragon Gate, Misty or Emerald. Continue by sampan to the picturesque mini-gorges of the Ma Du River with its clear, swift running water, unusual rock formations, and monkeys and goats along the banks. Depending on the water level of the Yangtze River, your excursion may be on Shennong Stream with its equally spectacular small gorges. Depart Wushan, passing through dramatic Qutang Gorge, with steep mossy cliffs that crowd the sky.
