Day 2 • IN FLIGHT ACROSS THE PACIFIC Cross the International Date Line. VIETNAM Day 3 • ARRIVE HANOI Upon arrival in Hanoi, you will be met by your professional Tour Director and escorted to the Hilton Hanoi Opera . Time to relax before dinner at the hotel this evening. Hilton Hanoi Opera MEALS: Dinner at Hotel Day 4 • HANOI Today's city tour visits the Botanical Gardens, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda; the Temple of Literature, dedicated to Confucius, and scenic Hoan Kiem Lake. Then discover the Old Quarter's fascinating maze of streets and shops on a pedicab ride. This evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and an entertaining performance at the Water Puppet Theater, a traditional art form that originated in Vietnam over 1,000 years ago. Transfer to the show by pedicab. MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 5 • HANOI (Halong Bay Excursion) Depart Hanoi by motorcoach to Halong Bay, known as the ¡°Bay of the Descending Dragon.¡± In a traditional Chinese junk, cruise magnificent Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With the bay's 3,000 islets as a backdrop, enjoy a delicious lunch of fresh seafood on board. This afternoon, time to explore some of the bay's fantastic caves. Observe the rhythms of daily life as you sail past floating villages, fishermen casting their nets and pearl fisheries. Return to Hanoi in time for dinner at a local restaurant. MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 6 • HANOI to HUE Transfer to the airport for an early morning flight to Hue, former imperial capital. Visit the old Imperial City, located in the Citadel. Within its walls are palaces and temples such as Thai Hoa Palace, Halls of the Mandarins and the Forbidden Purple City. Visit the Imperial tombs of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. Tu Duc ruled Hue more than 100 years ago and was the longest reigning Emperor, while Khai Dinh's tomb, the last monument of the Nguyen Dynasty, was built in the 1920s. Check in to the La Residence Hotel and Spa . MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 7 • HUE to DANANG After breakfast, drive across the Hai Van Pass with its spectacular views, en route to Danang. Stop for lunch at Lang Co, a scenic palm-shaded beach area on the South China Sea. Continue on to Danang where you have the afternoon at leisure to enjoy the beach and amenities at the Furama Resort Danang Hotel . MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner in Hotel Day 8 •DANANG (Hoi An Excursion) Drive to the picturesque trading port of Hoi An, where a walking tour includes such sights as Quan Cong Temple, the Japanese Covered Bridge, Trading Ceramics Museum and centuries-old pagodas. Return to Danang and visit the Cham Museum with its breathtaking sandstone sculptures, China Beach and the Marble Mountains. This evening, dinner is at the resort. MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner in Hotel Day 9 • DANANG to HO CHI MINH CITY This morning, an early flight takes you to Ho Chi Minh City, formerly Saigon, now Vietnam's largest city. City sightseeing includes Notre Dame Cathedral, City Hall, Reunification Palace and Ben Thanh Market, one of the city's liveliest areas. Continue on to the Chinese sector called Cholon, which means ¡°Big Market.¡± Visit Binh Tay Market and Thien Hau Pagoda. Enjoy dinner in a local restaurant; overnight at the Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers . MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Day 10 • HO CHI MINH CITY (Cu Chi Tunnels and Tay Ninh Excursion) Today visit Cu Chi, an important base during the war because of its strategic location. The incredible Cu Chi Tunnels, a 125 mile long network of hidden tunnels used for storage, shelter, command posts, and hospitals were dug using only hand tools over a 25 year period, to defend against both French and American troops. Continue on to Tay Ninh, home of Caodism, an eclectic fusion of Eastern and Western religious philosophies. Visit the Caodai Great Temple before returning to Ho Chi Minh City. MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner CAMBODIA Day 11 • HO CHI MINH CITY to SIEM REAP (Angkor) At leisure until afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap, gateway to Cambodia's most famous landmark, Angkor Wat. Check in to the Sofitel Royal Angkor Hotel for dinner and overnight. MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner at Hotel Day 12 • ANGKOR After breakfast, enjoy a boat trip on Tonle Sap Lake to explore its fishing villages and the unique floating village of Chong Kneas. This afternoon, visit Angkor Wat, a World Heritage Site and one of the largest temple complexes in the world, containing exquisite examples of Khmer and Hindu art from the 12th century, and the jungle-entwined ruins of Ta Prohm. A sight not to be missed, visit the hilltop Phnom Bakheng temple this evening to watch the sunset over Angkor Wat, its domes awash in golden light. MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner THAILAND Day 13 • SIEM REAP to BANGKOK This morning, continue your sightseeing of Angkor, including Angkor Thom, a fortified Royal City with its intriguing Bayon Temple and Terrace of Elephants. Transfer to the airport for your short flight to Bangkok, resplendent capital of Thailand. Check in to the Oriental Hotel . This evening, enjoy a classical Thai dance performance with your sumptuous dinner at renowned Sala Rim Nam restaurant.
