THAILAND Day 2 • Arrive Bangkok Upon arrival, you are met and escorted to the hotel. Shangri-La Hotel Day 3 • Bangkok This morning, visit the Royal Grand Palace complex, then proceed through the dazzling Wat Phra Kaeo with its revered Emerald Buddha, Golden Chedhi, Pantheon of Kings and the Eight Colored Towers. This evening enjoy a Thai dinner with classical dance show. MEALS: American Breakfast, Dinner Show Day 4 • Bangkok Drive through the countryside to Damnoen Saduak and its Floating Market, where vendors hawk their exotic goods along the canals (klongs) from produce-laden skiffs. Visit Nakhon Pathom, the tallest pagoda in the world. This afternoon, enjoy a delightful lunch at the Rose Garden Country Resort while watching Thai cultural shows: Buddhist ordination procession, northern hill tribe fingernail dance; charming folk dances, Thai boxing and sword fighting, elephants at work and a traditional Thai wedding ceremony. MEALS: American Breakfast, Lunch Day 5 • Bangkok/Ayutthaya/Bangkok Full day tour takes you by coach to see Thailand's ancient capital, Ayutthaya and its temple ruins. Continue on to visit Bang Pa In, the summer palace, before boarding a relaxing cruise down the Chao Phraya River back to Bangkok. Lunch is served during the cruise. MEALS: American Breakfast, Lunch MYANMAR Day 6 • Bangkok to Yangon/Heho/Inle Lake, Myanmar This morning transfer to the airport for your flights to Yangon and on to Heho. From Heho, drive through rural Myanmar to Inle Lake. Lunch is included en route. On arrival at Inle Lake, transfer by boat to the hotel for dinner and overnight. Inle Princess Resort Hotel MEALS: American Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner in Hotel Day 7 • Inle Lake Today, an excursion on scenic Inle Lake, where the calm waters are dotted with floating gardens and the shores rimmed with high hills and local villages built on stilts. Learn about village life, local methods of fishing and the fishermen's unique ¡°leg-rowing techniques.¡± Lunch at a local restaurant. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight. MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner in Hotel Day 8 • Inle Lake/Taunggyi/Heho/Mandalay This morning, cross Inle Lake and continue by motor coach to Taunggyi where you will visit the colorful Central Market, a gem market, the Shan State Museum, Pa-O Cultural Center, and a cheroot factory. Lunch at a local restaurant. Continue by coach to Heho, where you fly on to Mandalay. Sedona Hotel MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner in Hotel Day 9 • Mandalay Mandalay, a city of scenic beauty, was the last capital of Myanmar before the British takeover in 1885. Its Buddhist monasteries are among the most important in the country. Visit Mandalay Fort, the imposing walled palace compound; Kyauktawgyi Pagoda with its colossal marble Buddha; the Maha Muni Pagoda, the city's holiest shrine; Shwenandaw Kyaung Monastery; and the Kuthodaw Pagoda with its 729 small pagodas built in 1857 to house the marble tablets, which, for the first time, recorded the entire Buddhist canon. Enjoy dinner at the hotel this evening. MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner in Hotel Day 10 • Mandalay/Bagan Today's excursion by motor coach takes you to Sagaing and Amarapura. Sagaing, located on the banks of the Irrawaddy River, is the center of Buddhist faith in Myanmar where over 5,000 monks reside. Amarapura, called the ¡°City of Immortality,¡± had only a brief period as the capital, from 1783-1823. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Mandalay for your flight to Bagan. Thiripyitsaya Sakura Hotel MEALS: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner in Hotel Day 11 • Bagan The 5,000 temples and shrines rising from Myanmar's central plain at Bagan are a spectacular sight. Treasuries of Buddhist art, visit several of Bagan's revered temples including Ananda Pahto, the largest and most well preserved dating from 1105 AD; Shwegugyi; Thatbyinnyu Pahto, the ¡°Omniscient¡± temple; and Nathlaung Kyaung, Bagan's only Hindu temple. Lunch is included. Later, return to your hotel for a relaxing dinner this evening.
